Five beauty-boosting foods to help brides-to-be with their skin and hair ahead of their big day...

Wellness experts at Simply Supplements have named the five foods to keep skin and hair in a healthy, nourished and hydrated condition before wedding season. Carrots are packed full of beta-carotene which turns into vitamin A once eaten - this encourages cell growth which helps to hydrate skin and hair and stop any flakiness. Avocados support collagen production in the skin due to vitamin E and C to keep skin strong, and biotin to promote healthier hair. It's not just fruit and vegetables that improve skin and hair - dark chocolate is rich in flavonoids and minerals like zinc which boosts blood flow to nourish the skin and scalp.

Samantha Greener, wellness expert at Simply Supplements said: "We all want to look our best for our wedding day - and part of that is having our skin and hair in the healthiest condition possible. "Having nourished skin and hair will give you a natural glow for your wedding day. There are certain foods you can eat which will keep your body looking hydrated before the big day. "Vitamin A found in spinach and carrots gives our bodies a natural glow because of cell growth, and a stronger scalp to support the hair follicles.

"Eggs are a great breakfast option to stay fuelled throughout the day and contain protein which promotes collagen production to strengthen the skin. Minerals like zinc and iron are found in dark chocolate and nourish the scalp and support hair tissue growth.

"Try eating avocado on toast for lunch will give your body the antioxidants it needs to stay hydrated, including vitamin E and C."

Here are the best foods to eat before your wedding day:

Avocados

Avocados are packed with antioxidants including vitamin E and and C which support collagen production in the skin, keeping it hydrated and strong. The fruit also contains biotin (vitamin B7) which can promote healthier looking hair.

Carrots
The body turns the beta-carotene from carrots into vitamin A which helps to keep your skin from looking dry and flakey. Vitamin A can also help to give our skin and hair a healthy glowy look as it supports cell growth.

Eggs
Vitamin A is found in the yolk of the egg, which will help to promote a strong scalp to support hair growth. Protein from eggs also gives your skin more elasticity from collagen production and hydration.

Dark chocolate
Rich in flavonoids, dark chocolate can give the skin a smoother look by boosting blood flow. Minerals such as zinc and iron found in the food also help to nourish the scalp and support hair tissue growth.

Spinach
Spinach is packed full of nutrients and vitamins that work well together to keep your hair hydrated and nourished. Vitamin A, iron and vitamin C help to prevent the hair becoming brittle and breaking off.
